One of Punta Cana's most unforeseen activities is the visit of an
Italian-style village high above the Chavon River valley. Altos de Chavon is a
project of art and culture comprising a Roman amphitheatre, a cultural museum
and an important school of design. The unique architecture of Altos de Chavon
makes it perfect for easy walking through archways and gardens, and a one-hour
journey from Punta Cana is worth the view of the river valley itself.
There is no completion of a trip to Punta Cana without going from
the resort to Scape Park, where you will experience your surroundings as well.
Like canopies and in-water zip lines, thrills attract visitors of
all ages. There is also an underground swimming pool, cenote waterfall pool, a
spelunking bat cave and a pool called Hoyo Azul – which makes it easy to
explore for half a day. The park brings local wildlife, such as monks, parrots
and ranch horses to contact as well. There is also a cultural route from
ancient indians to Spanish colonisation and from African slave trade to
contemporary Dominican history between attractions that include the history of
the area.
